Crews from the Bay District Volunteer Fire Department responded at approximately 1 a.m. to the 21700 block of Cabot Place to investigate a reported house fire, officials said.
Upon arrival, firefighters found two victims inside the home, which suffered extensive damage during the fire.
No information about the victims was provided by fire officials. Their bodies have been transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore to determine the exact cause of death and to positively identify them.
Investigators said that the fire originated in the basement of the home, though the cause has not been identified.
Officials noted that the St. Mary's Metropolitan Commission, the local water and sanitary department, is assisting with removing several feet of water, so investigators can safely enter the home and begin investigating the cause.
